Page 3 of 4 While we may disagree on how to get there, you and I always know the Correct Answers. On labor relations, workers expect decent comp and working conditions in return for a hard day’s effort; bosses expect productivity and company loyalty in return for fair wages and benefits. Why then do abuses from both labor and management breed insulation of lazy union workers on one hand and egregious CEO legal and ethical lapses on the other?........Is there an implantable “Decent, Right Thing” brain chip yet? We need one, yes? So here it is. My Credo for personal, corporate, national and global health and wellness. The “Platinum Rule” if you will: “Do unto others a bit better than you would have them do unto you”. For your body, if 5 vegetable servings are good, eat 6 or 7. If a 2 mile walk is adequate, sprint the last ? mile. For your country, if it’s good to vote, it’s better to get involved intimately by learning more and being truly informed about and informative towards your elected officials. If you disdain the personal and societal ravages of poverty and teen-age pregnancy, then selflessly teach the impoverished about accountability and the self esteem that comes only with accomplishment. Help the adolescent mother and her partner with the overwhelming responsibility without validating the errant behavior. Perpetuating mistakes in the name of victimization or tolerance in the name of cultural diversity is indefensible. Forgiving, not validating. Understanding while redirecting misdirection. Tolerating differences while holding true to convictions. Calling hypocrisy what it is. Depending on facts to dictate opinion and emotion, not vice versa. Helping the individual thrive rather than subsist. Avoiding illness (medical and social), rather than repairing broken health. Asking more from ourselves than others. Striving for excellence instead of accepting mediocrity. Letting humor diffuse the pain and anger…….These are the spices for the meat of our discussions.
