"After 35 years in America, I never thought I would see this."  So wrote Stuart Varney, English-born Fox business correspondent in the Wall Street Journal on Saturday.  He was referring to the Obama administration's refusal to allow the payoff on a $1 billion TARP 'investment'.  As ex-GM chief Rick Waggoner found out, getting in bed with the U.S. government can result in severe injury.  Now it appears that the administration's agenda for banks is as clear:  Prohibit extrication from the puppet meisters, and watch out as they whittle control from private hands.  Tim Geithner warned of as much, telegraphing that bankers' heads may roll as he appeared on CBS's Face The Nation.  Watch for more power plays and governmental picking of winners and losers to gain momentum as the economy loses it.

Culture Correction? Print E-mail
Friday, 04 May 2007

While we're all fatigued from the constant onslaught of cultural icons gone awry, the fallout is gratifying.  I’m talking about the evolution of the court of American culture.  Not to speak too prematurely, but I’m seeing a bit of fight left in decent, values oriented Americans against the movers and shakers that would, if left to their own devices, tell us how to think and act.

First it was Imus, who despite his long-standing platform of ridiculing everything in his path was unceremoniously dethroned, due to market forces.   Despite self righteous references to “decency” and  “intolerance for bigoted speech” spewed by the NBC boss, Imus was canned not because Sharpton or Jackson or any other poverty pimp willed it, but simply because sponsors wanted to protect profits.  Capitalism worked, and their cold feet with Imus, while politically correct on steroids, acknowledged that you and I and a million others still hold some modicum of power over the culture through the ballot box we call our purse string.

But wasn’t it funny, sad, and typical at the same time that the legions of former Imus good ol’ boys, from Russert to you name it…..rapidly disavowed ever having known him, at least metaphorically.  That’s convenient friendship at its best, eh?  Shame on them.

And Russell Simmons, Sharpton and others are listening too, claiming their brand of degrading and racist talk will be muffled.  Yeah, right.  We’ll be keeping an eye on them.  You can count on it.

Then the horrific V Tech shootings, when once again the media elite listened when we said: “Enough”, with the constant looping of the Monster’s diatribes.  The media is on alert, they’re listening, and we have them in retreat.

Now comes Rosie, a vulgar, anti-American, hate-filled cauldron of venom, who finally embarrassed Barbara Walters once too much.  What took so long, Barbara?  You sold your soul to the devil in the name of ratings and bucks.  But now you see we the decent people mean business and it’s time to straighten up and fly right.  Better choose smartly with her replacement…….

Finally Alec Baldwin, the former “I don’t give a d____ what anyone thinks” blowhard is asking for repentance on of all places “The View”.  If the recent repair of America’s moral compass weren’t well under way, he would have never been so contrite.  They’re listening, aren’t they?

Next we'll walk the sordid path of lude behavior among Washington's elites as the "madam to the pols" revelation unfolds.  What will be our reaction?  I'm betting on a purging of the self aggrandizing politicians whose permissive, surreal and hypocritical actions have led to a collective approval rating lower than Geroge Bush's waste size.  And it'll start in '08, mark my words.  We've had it and can't take it anymore, not from Hollywood's elites, academics on high, or the power intoxicated political establishment.

So like the recent Dow Jones closings, the American market of moral values and grass roots influence is soaring.  I for one am proud that you, the patriots who care about America’s future, our kids and our Judeo-Christian foundations are speaking out….letting ‘er rip online, at the water cooler, at the dinner table, and of course on the RT Show.  I’m having a blast sharing the “blooming of decency” this spring with you all.   Along with Kelly and Eric, I promise we’ll keep watering the garden every Saturday.  Give us a buzz, won’t you?
