The balance has tipped. The see-saw is irreversibly weighted on
the side of ego bloated and power addicted politicians who can no longer see the American forest for the political trees.....
This week the House Judiciary Committee thwarted and effort to end the requirement for bilingual ballots and translators in jurisdictions where large numbers of voters speak limited English. The amendments were proposed during deliberations on the 40 year old Voting Rights Act, originally enacted to end poll taxes and literacy tests in southern states. Only Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa, who offerred the amendment to strike bilingaual ballots, voted against extending the antire law, after the committee had rejected his amendment 26-9. In another perilous development, Newsmax reports that the border patrol has been tippin off the Mexican authorities as to the whereabouts of the Minutemen and other civilian patrols. This, coupled with the Mexican government's blatant aid and comfort to their scribes, our soon to be resident aliens' efforts to "work so they can help their families" represents another page in the evolving story of our federal officials watching as America drowns in multiculturalism and 'diversity'. Since when are foreigners who ignore borders and engage in the benefits of American culture without cultural integration "heroes" as President Vicente Fox labels them? Just look at the history of Cyprus, Canada, France and even the unfolding of Iraq's culture clash and you'll see what happens when ancestral identity and cultural segregation trumps national definition. Former Colorado Governor Richard Lamm has termed it the "salad bowl" metaphor, as opposed to the melting pot that built the America we love. So in the end, it appears only if Minutemen become EveryAmericanMen (and Women for the politically correct), and only when local and state officials legislate one language standards in education, voting and civil matters will the federal courts be forced to rule yea or nea on this growing bastardization of real rights intended only for real citizens. This election cycle and beyond, let's hold elected officials feet to the fire. Ask candidates where they stand on the illegal invasion, where they prioritize the situation and exactly how they intend to fix the problem. Why is this so utterly crucial to America? It's simple folks. You can argue about abortion rights. stem cell research, and even our overseas war on terror until Bessie the cow starts producing sweet crude, but without a war on the silent army invading America, it all becomes moot. Clearly the Administration, most of Congress and both parties jut don't get it. Perhaps we should make sure they DON'T GET IT, that is their oft abused privilege and power, at the voting booth next election? And for sure, elect local and state candidates like Don Goldwater of Arizona (yes from THAT Goldwater family) running for the GOP nomination, with a centerpiece issue trumpeting a hard line stance against illegals. |
